Bellevue West Football Team Comes Up Short
Bellevue West Falls to Creighton Prep
The Bellevue West football team came up just short in their game against Creighton Prep on Friday night, losing 28-21. The Thunderbirds had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but a pass from quarterback Zane Flores was intercepted in the end zone. The loss drops Bellevue West to 2-2 on the season.
The Thunderbirds got off to a slow start, falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter. They rallied to tie the game in the second quarter on a touchdown pass from Flores to wide receiver Jaheim Oatis and a touchdown run by running back Jaylin Bradley.
Creighton Prep regained the lead in the third quarter on a touchdown run by running back Maurice Washington. The Thunderbirds answered back with a touchdown pass from Flores to wide receiver Keon Johnson, but Creighton Prep scored the game-winning touchdown on a 25-yard run by Washington with just over two minutes remaining.
Flores Throws for 2 Touchdowns
Flores finished the game 18-of-30 passing for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. Oatis led the Thunderbirds in receiving with 6 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. Bradley rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
Washington Leads Creighton Prep Offense
Washington was the workhorse for the Creighton Prep offense, carrying the ball 25 times for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Quarterback Brendan Macalus tied Flores with 2 touchdown passes, completing 12-of-19 passes for 150 yards.
Bellevue West Looks Ahead to Next Week
The Thunderbirds will look to bounce back next week when they host Lincoln Southwest. Creighton Prep will travel to Omaha Central.
