Uruguay upset Brazil 2-0 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, with goals from Darwin Nunez and Nicolas de la Cruz and Neymar being held off the scoresheet after scoring a record-breaking brace in Brazil's opening qualifier on Thursday.
Nunez gave Uruguay the lead in the 33rd minute, heading in a cross from Facundo Torres. De la Cruz doubled the lead in the 54th minute, finishing off a counterattack.
Brazil had chances to get back into the game, but Neymar was unable to convert. The Paris Saint-Germain forward had a free kick saved in the first half and headed wide in the second half.
The win moved Uruguay to four points from two games in qualifying, while Brazil has three points from two games.
