Kim Declared Victor in North Korea Election
100% Victory for Leader in Local Elections
No Choice for Voters in Dictatorship
North Korean state media has announced the results of Sunday's election for deputies to regional people's assemblies, declaring leader Kim Jong-un the victor with 100% of the vote. North Koreans were required to vote in the local elections held in the East Asian dictatorship, and parliamentary elections were expected to be held in March or April 2024. However, it is widely acknowledged that North Korea's elections are not free and fair, and the country's rubber-stamp parliament has no real power.
